I would thoroughly recommend the Great Bear Lodge to anyone, it was probably the best trip I’ve ever been on and I feel very fortunate to have experienced it. We went at the beginning of October and saw loads of bears! On arrival we were greeted by a friendly bunch of staff and treated to a lovely pizza and cookies!! The food here was amazing, I’ve never eaten so well on a holiday. So now to the wildlife!! Over the course of our time here we saw grizzly and black bears, bald eagles, mink, salmon, kingfisher, seals, swans and Douglas squirrels. I wasn’t sure how close we would get to the bears so I was amazed when one came right past us in the water. It must have only been about 5/6 metres away; it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I didn’t know how I would react being that close to a bear but it’s actually a very calming experience and so exciting when you do see them so close by. The staff are very good and make you feel perfectly safe with their knowledge and expertise. Another great aspect to the lodge is that they literally have everything you need. The binoculars are fantastic, we were given jump suits so we were always warm and there was loads of high quality wet weather gear. The boat trips were one of my favourite parts, the scenery is breath taking and by boat you really see this area at its best. I was very content spending time on the boat taking in the lovely views!

The trip to Great Bear Lodge is now one of the best trips I have taken. If you are a nature lover this is the ideal setting for you. The friendly staff were exceptional to make us feel comfortable, and took care of every need. They provided extra gear to ensure that we are comfortable when out in the elements - went in October and despite a couple rainy days, were never cold. Hot showers, and fabulous food added to the experience! The lodge was very comforable, and I was happy to know that it was green - all power was generated from a nearby waterfall, wind and solar panels. Since there was a small group of us staying there (6) at the time, only enhanced the experience. The guides went above and beyond to help me get great pictures of the bears, otters, seals, eagles and a variety of other birds, and even the rare sighting of a marmot. We saw bears every time we went out 3 times a day everyday which surpassed my expectations, afterall they are wild animals within a huge rainforest, not a zoo. I can't thank those at the Great Bear Lodge enought for such an wonderful experience! Since there are so many places in the world to visit it is rare that I would return, but I do plan to visit this lodge again soon! Save the bears!

The float plane trip to start with gave us a beautiful view of the rainforest, then we we came into view of the lodge, fantastic setting! All the staff were there to greet us at the start of the most fantastic experience viewing wildlife in their natural habitat. Right from the beginning we were made to feel as if we were visiting friends rather than paying guests. The food was superb and plentiful. Although simple, our room was cosy, the bed very comfortable and we slept soundly each night. What more could one ask for! We were very fortunate to see several Grizzlies, including a mating pair, awesome!! Also we saw Bo swimming and wading across the water between sedge banks. Lots of other wildlife also. One of the best trips we have ever done on a holiday. All the staff were very knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of their way to spot wildlife. They were very enthusiastic and wanted you to get the best out of your visit. We can thoroughly recommend Great Bear Lodge.
